Growing up just outside Copenhagen, Henrik didn’t travel far to find the vibrant opportunities of the city he now calls home. “I’ve been living here for 11 years and love it. There’s always something to do—swimming in the summer, cosying up in restaurants and bars in the fall, or discovering hidden oases that feel completely different from the rest of the city,” he shares. For Henrik, Copenhagen isn’t just where he works; it’s where he thrives professionally and personally.
Henrik’s passion for engineering began with a love for learning and solving complex problems. “I think it’s kind of hypnotic to dive into solving a problem and use your knowledge to build something new,” he says.
His technical journey started with a foundation in IT during high school, where he initially envisioned a career in hardware. However, a university internship introduced him to software development, and he quickly discovered his preference for the creative, dynamic world of coding. After earning a bachelor’s degree in IT and a master’s in efficient and intelligent software, Henrik built his expertise through roles in front-end development before joining Shape Games.
Starting as a Frontend Developer at Shape Games, Henrik found not just a workplace but an environment to grow. After two years, he transitioned to Engineering Manager, taking on the rewarding yet challenging task of leading a team.
“Leadership is different,” he reflects. “I was used to knowing the ins and outs of my tasks and having all the answers. Now, it’s about relying on the team and helping them collaborate effectively. You don’t dive into complex problems the same way as before, but you get to focus on removing obstacles, boosting morale, and making sure the team is happy and productive.”
For Henrik, the most fulfilling aspect of leadership is helping team members achieve their personal and professional goals. “If I can play even a small part in someone’s growth, that’s incredibly rewarding,” he adds.
When he’s not at the office, Henrik balances an active lifestyle with a love for exploration. From running, squash, and snowboarding to binge-watching series or researching the best gear—be it running shoes or TVs—he embraces his hobbies with the same curiosity and thoroughness he brings to his work.
For Henrik, the answer is simple: the people. “You should never take for granted how amazing it is to work with people you can learn from and laugh with,” he says. From casual vibes in the office to the dance floor at parties, Shape Games fosters connections that go beyond work.
He also appreciates the flat structure and the growth opportunities. “Your opinions are valued here, no matter your background. If you have ambition, there’s always someone willing to guide you. It’s all about what you bring to the table.”
