Carrie made a significant life change in 2020 when she relocated from the US to Denmark . The transition was a cultural revelation, particularly when she noticed how holidays are observed differently, with most businesses in Denmark closed, a sharp contrast to the US. The Danish work culture, with its strong emphasis on employee well-being and health, was an eye-opener. Recalling an experience with our Design Manager, Martin, she says, "I once came into work after a day of sick leave, only for Martin to send me home to recover fully. That was an unfamiliar but welcome surprise."
Carrie believes that leadership and management in Denmark significantly differ from the US, particularly in terms of openness and honesty. She appreciates the 'flat' organizational structure, which allows for direct communication across different roles and hierarchies. "In a regular work environment, you'd have to go through several intermediaries to communicate with certain people. Here, your opinion matters, and there's no need to fear expressing it to anyone," she states.
When asked about her most memorable experience at Shape Games, she recalls a trip to Norway during her second week. Alongside her colleagues Tim, Anders, and Alin, she visited Norsk Tipping, one of our esteemed clients. The camaraderie formed during that trip made a lasting impression on her, adding a cherished memory to her journey with us.
Carrie shares a golden nugget for those interested in QA: "The best QA engineers I've worked with are those who think outside the box and see the big picture. They don't necessarily have a computer science background, but they're dedicated to continual learning. QA isn't just about mechanically executing tasks; it requires strategic planning and foresight.
When asked about reasons to apply, Carrie responds with a smile, "Muesli bars we have in the canteen." To discover more reasons to join us, take a look at our culture on our website and explore our current job openings . We eagerly look forward to welcoming new members to our team.
